Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum members love their four signature programs. These programs allow members to give back to the community through service and outreach. BookSmart, Baxter the Bookworm and Forum Friends allow CWJF to interact with young students and senior citizens. CWJF’s signature programs are solely planned, funded and executed by it’s members.
BAXTER THE BOOKWORM
Baxter the Bookworm is a reading advocacy program for preschoolers in Title 1 schools. During the event, CWJF volunteers bring stories to life by reading to the children with the assistance of a true reading advocate ….. “Baxter the Bookworm”. After the reading, the children use their creativity to make a simple craft related to the story. Each event concludes with the award of a copy of a book to each child, leaving them inspired and eager to continue their reading journey.
BOOKSMART
In our Booksmart program, CWJF members have the opportunity to visit Title 1 schools in our service area and bring the magic of storytelling to life for 2nd grade students. Through entertaining performances based on the book “Bubba The Cowboy Prince” by Helen Ketteman, our goal at CWJF is to ignite a lifelong love for reading in young minds. As a special parting gift, each student receives their very own copy of the book, opening the door to countless new adventures through the joy of reading.
FORUM FRIENDS
Forum Friends is a heartwarming program for senior citizens, where CWJF provides bingo, lunch, entertainment, and fellowship once a month at three different locations. Forum Friends Champions Forest, Forum Friends Tomball, and Forum Friends The Woodlands serve various areas throughout communities north of Houston. Through these programs, CWJF serves and entertains over 500 seniors each month.
F.A.S.T. FRIENDS
F.A.S.T. FRIENDS fosters meaningful relationships between members and seniors who could use a caring companion. Through visits, shared meals, cards, and phone calls, we aim to brighten the days of seniors in need. Additionally, we arrange evening gatherings where seniors can socialize with their CWJF friends and other seniors, creating uplifting and enjoyable experiences.
